Description

The student will learn to assign the Physicians' Current Procedure Terminology(CPT) and ICD-9-CM codes to complex medical and surgical diagnoses and procedures in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Current concepts and changes related to coding practice and reimbursement by prospective payment systems will be reviewed. The student will have hands-on practice using encoder software (AHIMA Competencies).
