Description

Prior to entry to the ADN program, students have completed all general education prerequisite courses described in the ADN Information Session. All of the nursing courses build on and expand from Introduction to Nursing. In this course, students gain beginning knowledge about nursing and the Neuman Systems Model. The faculty designed the nursing curriculum with the Neuman Systems Model as the conceptual basis. The other major concepts are needs as adapted from Maslow and the nursing process. Students are introduced to the nurses role through the core components and competencies of assessment, clinical decision-making, communication, caring interventions, and teaching and learning. Students learn basic nursing skills in the simulation laboratory setting. (4 hours of class and 12 hours of clinical lab per week)
