Description

This course will describe ecological principles and how humans have impacted ecological processes locally, regionally, and globally. These changes include land use, element cycles, climate, species distribution, biodiversity, and rate of extinctions. Students will learn the best management practices, technologies, and human behaviors that may reverse or slow these changes and promote sustainability, with a focus on the Florida artesian springs. Students will also learn how sustainability science and conservation biology blends scientific method with the humanities and social sciences to establish a deeper understanding of engage with the biosphere.
