    Description

This course is an introduction to the basic concepts used in reading literature and in writing about literature. Specifically, the course explores the three principal literary genres - fiction, poetry, drama - and the terms that apply to an understanding of how to read those genres. Also, it builds on the compositional skills introduced in ENC 1101 by its requirements of a literary research assignment and other writing assignments.
