Description

SPA 1612 F, W INTRODUCTION TO AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I (4) 4 hours per week An introduction to the linguistic structure and conceptual vocabulary of American Sign Language as used by deaf adults. The course emphasizes the development of sign language skills and the ability to translate from ASL to English and English to ASL. Various sign systems and regional signs will also be described. The course also describes the history, values, and culture of deaf persons in America.
